The Herpetological Conservation Trust is a Charitable Company limited by guarantee. We are dedicated to amphibians and reptiles and  lead the UK's conservation efforts for these animals.
 
 

The UK's Amphibians

Below is a list of our native amphibians with links to more detail about each of them.

Our native amphibians include two frogs (previously one but the northern clade of the Pool Frog is now recognised as a UK species), two toads and three newts.

The final item "Other Amphibians" includes the main alien species which have become established in the UK through release (now illegal) or accidentally - for example, escapes from captivity.
